MCC vs ECAD
Friday 20 th June 2008 at Lord's Cricket Ground
ECAD are pleased to announce their first ever fixture against the MCC at Lord's, which takes place next year.
Thanks to the discretion of former ECAD Chairman, Mike O'Mahony, he helped initiate the discussions with a MCC member, James While when they played in opposition to each other in a cricket match.
MCC have asked ECAD of an ideal date for this exciting fixture. A proposed date during the deaf Ashes series in July 2008 was put forward to the MCC fixture secretary.
Unfortunately due to the ground unavailability, fixtures and county training on the ground clashing during the deaf Ashes series from 3 rd to 25 th July 2008, the MCC have provided a date prior to the deaf Ashes.
Nevertheless, ECAD and the ECB are very grateful for an exciting opportunity to put deaf cricket on the map and historic fixture. It provides an excellent warm-up match for ECAD before the expected tough deaf Ashes contest.
It is anticipated and hoped that MCC will be able to provide a regular fixture between the two teams for years to come.
Australia deaf cricket consist a number of grade one players including 3 of which complete in what is regarded as the toughest club competition in the world in Sydney . ECAD consist of a few former counties players and current minor county players. International deaf cricket teams always comprises a few players of different scope and levels so it is essential to provide tough and competitive warm-up matches for ECAD before the deaf Ashes.
