For the first time in the recent history of England Cricket Association for the Deaf
(ECAD), the ECB are providing FULL support for an overseas tour in terms of the
organising, coaching and support staff, training, costs of tour & flight, kit and a
British Sign Language interpreter.
This wonderful development follows the recent disappointment and cancellation of
the proposed World Cup for the Deaf in New Zealand. Having been beaten finalists in
the first two World Cups, England were confident of making it third time lucky.
ECAD are grateful to ECB, Cricket Australia, Deaf Cricket Australia and Lord’s
Taverners for their hard dedicated work in very short notice and time to prepare a
triangular series between the proud deaf cricketing associations of ECAD, Deaf
Cricket South Africa & DCA, which we hope will be a resounding success.
